Ticketmaster opened its first formal venture in the Italian market with launch of its dedicated ticketmaster.it web site on Monday. The move puts the global ticketing leader in direct competition with incumbents Best Union and TicketOne (Eventim) plus a host of regional and city players across Italy.
Currently the Ticketmaster Italia venture is offering tickets only to events linked to Live Nation. The arena show Fast & Furious Live has headline billing, with international and domestic pop acts filling the listings. No cultural or sporting events are listed.
Payment options for Ticketmaster Italia are not detailed (on the day of launch the payment info and Privacy links lead to site errors). Delivery methods are limited to just box office collection (free), mobile eTicket (free – for accountholders) and courier (€9.90 domestic or €29.99+ for international).
The site appears to also offer support for SPID (Italy’s national digital ID system for public services) and the Carta del Docente (teacher’s card – a tool for group education bookings and incentives) and the 18app (a payment method linked to SPID) – but no events are currently listed with these services.
The legal office of the new Ticketmaster Italia srl venture is based in Italy’s music industry capital Milan. Ticketmaster Italia is also hiring. “Our team is mixed and we are all 100% fans!”, announces the site.
