Optus Stadium Open Day adds 40,000 more free tickets

The newly-named Optus Stadium in Perth has released a further 40,000 free tickets for its Open Day after the 70,000 allocation sold out in under two hours.

Those with tickets will be able to explore the 60,000-capacity stadium’s features and experience the ‘fans first’ facilities that have been integrated into the design.

The event is set to take place on January 21, just under three weeks prior to the stadium’s first sporting event. On February 10, the Fremantle Dockers womens’ side take on Collingwood in the AFLW Aussie rules football game to kick off the stadium’s sporting history.

It will also host rugby and cricket matches, as well as music concerts.

According to the WA Today news website, Premier Mark McGowan said the demand for tickets to the open day had led him to approve new morning sessions being added to the event’s schedule.

“This world-class stadium belongs to the people of Western Australia and demand for the open day today has been exceptional,” he said.

“I am delighted that even more people will now have the chance to see inside the stadium for the very first time.”

Throughout the Stadium Park area, there will also be a variety of free family activities, entertainment, food and live music. Each session will also involve an audio-visual show using the stadium’s two big screens.

Earlier this week, the government of Western Australia agreed a deal with Optus for the telecommunications company to become the naming-rights sponsor of Perth Stadium.

The 10-year agreement will be worth more than Aus$50m (€33m/$38.3m) over the duration of the deal.
