Leicester Tigers report digital success

English Premiership rugby union club Leicester Tigers has reported a 50 per cent increase in its website traffic since the launch of its new site and mobile app six months ago.

Matchday ticketing was one of the primary reasons for the initial revamp, with fans now able to purchase passes with ease from the website and app.

The new website and app was built to improve fans’ user experience through its ticketing, as well as housing club news, player content, links to partners and community initiatives, and events.

The new Matchday Live Centre provides live commentary on every Tigers match home and away, together with game stats, real-time score updates and insight from pre-match and post-match.

The Tigers claims that the upgraded system is the faster than that of all its Premiership, Pro14 and French competitors, “allowing content to load within half a second.”

The club also reported that since the revamp, it has seen a 20 per cent increase in page views, as well as 115 per cent more referrals from social media, third-party websites and channels.

It also notes that its digital platforms have seen 170,000 unique visitors a month, with more than 130 original news articles a month.

The app now has more than 12,000 active users, which delivers push notifications of all breaking news, live scores and team updates, and is also an ideal way to interact with the club.

On matchdays, fans can also use the app to vote for their Spire Man of the Match at Welford Road, as well as sharing photos and purchasing food and drink from within the stadium.
