Verified Fan takes centre stage in UK

Verified Fan is set for its first major roll-out in the UK tomorrow (Wednesday) when Jack White tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster.

Fans of the former White Stripes singer were able to register for the Verified Fan presale until last Friday. Those fans that are successfully verified by Ticketmaster’s platform will be sent a code later today that can be redeemed when the sale begins at 10am tomorrow.

Verified Fan has been used extensively and successfully by acts such as U2 and Taylor Swift in the US over the last year to prevent bots and scalpers from accessing tickets. Until now, its use in the UK has been limited to a few intimate gigs by acts such as George Ezra and Paolo Nutini.

White, who is playing two London dates at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith as part of his European tour, was eager to ensure that fans could access tickets at reasonable prices, according to Ticketmaster.

Jack White

Ticketmaster said: “Jack White cares about his fans and understands there are going to be more people who want to see him on tour than there will be available tickets.

“He’s committed to getting tickets in the hands of fans. Not touts or bots. So he’s collaborating with Ticketmaster to sell tickets for his tour through the Verified Fan platform – a unique fan-first technology that levels the playing field so that software isn’t getting tickets, the fans are.”

White will play in London on June 27 and 28, with tickets to go on general sale on Friday. He is also using Verified Fan for his dates in France and the Netherlands.

Last year, Live Nation chief executive Michael Rapino said that Verified Fan has a 90-per-cent success rate in identifying ticket bots.
