TheTicketingBusiness has been asked to support research for a new ticketing system to be implemented later this year at Caudan Art Centre – a new, world-class arts and theatre complex in Port Louis, Mauritius.
THE VENUE
The Caudan Arts Centre is the third phase of development of the Le Caudan waterfront shopping mall. The new auditorium will seat 431 attendees and be suitable for a variety of performances, from stand-up comedy to musical theatre. There will be a strong emphasis on the pedagogical element as “we strive to involve as much as possible the schools of the region,” reports the management.
The facility is an entirely privately-funded enterprise.
“We have always maintained a close relationship to the arts and culture scene thanks in large part to the vision of our managing director, Rene Leclezio. There is little done from the government in Mauritius when it comes to arts and culture, and there is a great lack of entertainment in the capital city in the evenings. We’ve therefore decided to build a venue with the help of international experts at Arup which would be suited to hosting international performances and be conducive and inspiring for Mauritians to develop and grow their artistic ambitions.”
The briefing continues: “Whilst in the near term, we will be primarily a presenting and hiring venue, we expect in the long-term to also launch our own productions. We will also be hosting conferences during the day and have a number of smaller conference rooms in the venue which will be for hire.”
Opening date is scheduled for December 2018. The management wishes to finalise ticketing system providers by April 2018.

TICKETING REQUIREMENTS
The management expects to sell between 40,000-50,000 tickets annually when we include all the events we will be hosting (including school plays and conferences). The average ticket price is expected to be about GBP20.
The functionalities which we would like to have as part of the online ticketing system include:
A cloud-based system;
The inclusion of a backend CRM system;
Physical box office sales ability;
A seat map functionality;
Dynamic pricing;
Customisable paper ticket format (ie. Ability to include marketing material on the ticket such as 15% off a meal at a restaurant);
Ability to sell across multiple sites.
