BookMyShow holds 50% of IPL tickets

BookMyShow now holds more than 50 per cent of the ticket inventory for the Indian Premier League after signing deals with four of the biggest teams.

The Indian ticketing firm has been named as the official ticketing partner for Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Kight Riders, the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

Through these deals, BookMyShow controls over 50 per cent of the entire ticket inventory for the 2018 season.

Online and box office sales for the Chennai Super Kings are set to kick off on April 2, while tickets for the remaining three have already begun.

BookMyShow has also partnered with companies such as Payzap, Amazon Pay, Ola, MakeMyTrip and Goibibo to provide an improved fan experience. In addition, the online ticket platform is leading sales of corporate and hospitality tickets, which will offer complimentary food and beverages and official team merchandise.

Albert Almeida, chief operating officer-non-movies, BookMyShow said: “BookMyShow is proud to be the exclusive ticketing partner for Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals this IPL season.

“Each year, we redefine the sports ticketing experience for fans in association with our partner franchisees. Between 2011 and 2016, over 12 million cricket fans bought tickets through BookMyShow and in 2017, we contributed to a 20-25 per cent growth in revenues for our partner teams.

“Needless to say, we are committed to not just bettering the revenue numbers in 2018 but also making the fan experience during the ticketing process and at the venue, an even better one than before.”
