WeGotTickets co-founder Newton leaves firm

WeGotTickets co-founder and director, Dave Newton, has announced he will be leaving the UK online ticket seller after 17 years, IQ Mag reports.

In October 2017, Newton resigned as a director shortly after his fellow co-founder, Andy Clyde.

The pair launched the WeGotTickets platform in 2000 as an extension of their online record shop, Oxford Music Net.

Two years after the initial launch, Clyde and Newton decided to separate the businesses and make WeGotTickets its own company.

The online ticketing firm was reportedly among the first in the UK to issue electronic tickets via email.

WeGotTickets has grown steadily and today works with over 10,000 venues and promoters across the UK to sell a million tickets each year.

A WeGotTickets spokesperson said: “While Dave’s day-to-day involvement is coming to an end, he will maintain a keen interest in our continued success as one of our supportive shareholders. We wish him all the best for his next project.”
