LiveXLive appoints Zemetra as CFO

LiveXLive, live music streaming firm and Wantickets owner, has appointed Michael Zemetra as its new chief financial officer.

The executive previously worked as the CFO at cloud-computing company J2 Global.

LiveXLive acquired electronic dance music ticketing company Wantickets in May last year. The purchase expanded the firm’s portfolio of venues and festivals and gave a broader reach of its content by using its database of ticket buyers, helping to launch its pay-per-view on demand and subscription model.

“LiveXLive is positioned to capitalise on the massive opportunities in streaming music and live events, and I am thrilled to join as its chief financial officer,” said Zemetra, who was also previously CFO for in-flight entertainment company Global Eagle and senior vice president at web content company Leaf Group (previously Demand Media).

“This is an exciting time to join the talented LiveXLive team, and I look forward to contributing to the next phase of the company’s growth and evolution.”

In September, the Wantickets owner acquired North American company Slacker Radio, which has radio stations curated by DJs, customisable radio stations based on a person’s taste, and at one point sold portable music players.

Since its launch in 2015, LiveXLive has been building an online destination for music fans to enjoy premium live performances from music venues and leading music festivals around the world, such as Rock in Rio, Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival and Hangout Music Festival, as well as premium original content, artist exclusives and industry interviews.

“We are sincerely grateful to Jerry for his outstanding leadership and continuing contributions to the growth and success of LiveXLive and are pleased to have him join the board,” said Robert Ellin, chief executive and chairman of LiveXLive.

“Michael’s proven track record as a financial leader guiding highly relevant technology and media companies is an incredible asset that we will leverage as we continue to grow and build our market presence.

“As we approach the start of music festival season, we are extremely excited for our future and are focused on executing on the very significant opportunities ahead of us.”
