Indian ticketing firm BookMyShow has appointed Albert Almeida as its new chief operating officer of non-movies to help boost access to events and identify untapped markets.
Almeida will take the lead in building upon BookMyShow’s theatre, sports, music concerts and other live experiences to give existing movie customers more choice.
The new executive will report to Ashish Hemrajani, the founder and chief executive of BookMyShow.
He will lead the firm into its next stage of expansion and help to ensure there is a focus on each of the non-movie verticals.
Hemrajani said: “I am very fortunate to have a talented and experienced colleague to work with alongside. We look forward to setting new standards in this space and confident that Albert can lead this journey.”
Almeida previously worked as COO for Hungama Digital Media Pvt. Ltd where he led Hungama Mobile’s domestic and international businesses. He also worked as executive vice-president with Sony Entertainment Television for over half a decade during which he led the SET and MAX brands.
Almeida said: “We see a huge opportunity in the non-movie entertainment space and are committed to driving the next phase of growth from here. I am excited to be a part of this journey as we diversify into new avenues of entertainment.”
