The Lollapalooza music festival has expanded into another new market, with the Swedish capital of Stockholm to stage an event next summer.
Lollapalooza Stockholm will take place from June 28-29, 2019 at Gârdet, a park in the centre of the city.
Stockholm will become the sixth international city to host a Lollapalooza event, joining Santiago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Paris.
The festival will feature four stages, innovative culinary selections, art and more, with a complete line-up and ticket information to be released later in the year.
Live Nation owns a controlling interest in C3 Presents, the promoter behind Lollapalooza. Since acquiring the interest in 2014, Live Nation has expanded the festival to new destinations, with Paris having hosted its first event last year.
The Stockholm event will be produced by Perry Farrell, WME, C3 Presents and Live Nation Sweden with its subsidiary company Luger, which is behind such Swedish festivals as Way Out West and Åre Sessions.
Thomas Johansson, chairman of international music at Live Nation, said: “The historic Gärdet and the iconic festival Lollapalooza are the perfect match. For decades we have been wanting to do a really big festival in Stockholm and we are very honoured and excited to do this together with Charles Attal and his team at C3 Presents. Welcome to Stockholm, Lollapalooza!”
Attal, a C3 Presents partner, added: “It takes years of research and planning to determine the right cities to host Lollapalooza, and we never take the decision lightly. With its incredible culture, vibrant music seen and beautiful green spaces, Stockholm proved to be an ideal city to add to our growing international family.
“We are fortunate and honoured to partner with Anna Sjolund, Thomas Johansson and their team, who are highly respected around the world as some of the best promoters in the business.”
