Thousands of England fans are desperately trawling resale sites for the chance to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-final match against Croatia on Wednesday.
After host country Russia exited the competition over the weekend in the quarterfinal, many seats at the 81,000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow have become available.
Category one tickets, with a face value of £567, have been spotted on Viagogo and StubHub for £1,000. Category two tickets are £363 face value and category three £215.
Viagogo is still listing tickets for the international football tournament, despite being the subject of a FIFA criminal complaint.
The Times reports that one Swedish couple were offering two tickets to the semi-final for €1,500 each in a café on the city’s waterfront.
“I’m just buying everything on the black market, it’s costing a fortune,” Steve Littlejohn, said, according to The Times. “I’m looking for the semi and the final now. We’re not going home.”
The English FA sold all its 2,180 allocation for the match in January, though tickets may become available of FIFA’s official site for those who already have a Fan ID.
For the round of 16 game between England and Colombia, touts were flogging tickets for almost five-times their face value.
