Latest report claims France leads in cashless implementation

A report in a recent PayinTech newsletter has claimed that France is leading the way in offering cashless solutions at stadia, with 32 venues across the country now offering such services.

Football has the most cashless stadia with 14, while rugby accounts for 12 of the cashless venues in France. Other venues across handball, basketball, hockey and motorsport complete the line-up.

PayinTech notes that the average amount of money spent using cashless solutions is €35, with transactions only taking about eight seconds. The report adds that, at the end of the season, fans are offered a refund for the amount still on their cashless card, but some choose to leave the money for the club. This is often reinvested back into areas such as training facilities.
