Benfica has cited the Portuguese Primeira Liga football club’s new customer focus as the reason behind impressive season ticket sales ahead of the new season.
At the latest count, Benfica had sold 44,032 season tickets – more than 70 per cent of the Estádio da Luz’s capacity.
In recent months, the club has implemented several customer care measures and experience upgrades, such as season ticket sharing, in which fans can use the Benfica app to share their ticket with family or friends.
The club has also added a digital match centre where fans can follow all the live match action online through accessing exclusive content. Additionally, Benfica’s new e-commerce platform has upgraded the user experience with the club’s digital channels.
As part of the season ticket sales, Benfica has sold 8,100 corporate seats.
The full capacity of the stadium for Benfica fans in league matches is 64,162, which is reduced to 63,526 when the away fans use 100 per cent of their designated tickets.
Last season, the Portuguese club sold a record-breaking 46,702 season tickets, which represents 72.8 per cent of all seats. However, that figure is expected to be surpassed.
“Every year these goals have been growing in a consolidated way, making it possible for Benfica to be one of Europe’s top clubs in season ticket sales and stadium occupation rates,” the club said.
In addition, the club now offers fans the option to pay their season tickets in three instalments. Benfica’s season card now also includes the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round match.
