Event ticket search engine TickX has added two new clients to its sports portfolio in the shape of Elite Ice Hockey League team Manchester Storm and British Basketball League outfit the Leicester Riders.
As part of its agreement with Manchester Storm, the team’s fixtures at the Altrincham Ice Dome will feature on the TickX search engine platform, providing the club with a wide and larger marketing reach.
All Leicester Riders fixtures at the Morningside Arena, along with other sporting and non-sporting events at the venue, will also be added to TickX’s search engine platform.
The Riders won the treble in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons and plays at the purpose-built Morningside Arena in Leicester, which opened two years ago.
Commenting on the partnership with Manchester Storm, Steve Pearce, TickX co-founder and chief executive, said: “Since they have been re-established in 2015, they have enjoyed rapid success and we are looking forward to helping them reach new audiences as well as increase ticket sales for the upcoming EIHL season. It is always special to partner with a local sports team, we are looking forward to helping put ice hockey on the map, not just in Manchester but in the UK as well.”
On the Riders link-up, Pearce added: “We’re looking forward to helping them reach new audiences as well as increase ticket sales for their games over at the Morningside Arena. This partnership makes it easier than ever for fans to get the best-priced tickets available, as well as giving the Riders an opportunity to market to people who have not been to a basketball game before.”
TickX pulls results from more than 75 ticket-selling platforms, including the likes of Ticketmaster, Eventim and See Tickets. TickX is available across the UK, Ireland, Spain and the Netherlands online or via the TickX app, with the platform set to expand across Europe soon.
TickX said the new partnerships underline its commitment to providing fans of all sports with a “one-stop destination” to find and buy the best tickets. More sporting partnerships are set to be announced soon.
Liam Hesketh, sponsorship and marketing consultant at Manchester Storm, said: “We are extremely excited to begin our partnership with TickX. This gives us an opportunity to put Manchester Storm and ice hockey firmly back on the map in Manchester.
“Since re-formation in 2015 we have seen increased average attendances, season by season and with the recent on-ice success, we look to build on that. As we prepare to defend our conference title, we look to introduce new fans to the sport and by forming a partnership with TickX, we can do that successfully.”
Kevin Routledge, chairman of the Leicester Riders and a director of Morningside Arena, added: “We are very pleased with the partnership with TickX, which gives us the opportunity to increase the awareness of the Arena, and the many and varied sport and entertainment events that take place there, as well as grow the fan base of the Riders, particularly at this point in time, where we are taking on some of the best clubs in Europe in the Basketball Champions League.”
