Manchester City has unveiled its AI-powered smart wristband, which offers supporters contactless ticketing options and purchasing power via NFC technology.
The ‘Fantom’ wristband also informs fans on the countdown to kick-off, live match details and breaking news as well as giving them the chance to have their say and play quizzes.
The news is delivered through a glass touch screen display, and sits on a silicone strap with the club’s crest. It costs supporters £80.
According to Fantom’s website, an ‘early-bird’ release has already sold out and fans wanting the product can order it as part of a ‘second release’, which will be shipped to customers in September.
The smart wristband release said: “Fantom is for you, the truly passionate fans. The Cityzens in the stands, the voice in the pubs, and those stuck at work.
“Fantom brings you closer to City. Giving you the latest news, inside information and updates, right on your wrist, as it happens, wherever you are in the world.
“The Manchester City Fantom, created in partnership with Cityzens. For over a year we have been working closely together with our partner Manchester City to create a whole new type of wearable for Man City’s Cityzens.
“After a successful global pilot during 2017-18 USA Pre-Season Tour, the concept and technology was validated with over 100 Cityzens from around the world.”
