More AFL gloom for Ticketek

Ticketek is again under scrutiny in Australia over its handling of ticketing for the latter stages of the AFL Aussie Rules season.

Richmond and Collingwood fans vented their frustration on social media after experiencing problems securing tickets to the preliminary final between the two clubs.

When tickets went on sale on Monday morning some claimed they were able to proceed to the payments page but were then met with erroneous security messages saying their credit cards had been blocked.

The issues come just weeks after the AFL announced staggered ticketing sales after the Ticketek service crashed ahead of Finals Week 1.

After encountering problems in buying tickets for the Richmond-Collingwood match, one fan told news.com.au: “When I went to pay it gave me the card security error message. I tried to use different cards, got the same message. None of the cards I used have been blocked by the bank at all.”

Ticketek defended its performance, telling foxsports.com.au that its website has transacted well throughout the morning, and that some fans had reported a smooth experience in securing tickets.

Last month Ticketek extended its partnership with the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which attracts more than 3.5 million fans annually.
