Hollywood Bowl hikes prices

The Hollywood Bowl concert venue in Los Angeles has increased its ticket prices for 2019, citing an uptick in production, labour, marketing and artists’ costs.

The majority of pricing increases will amount to $1 or $2 extra per seat, though the highest-priced garden and pool circle boxes will see hikes of up to $7 on weekends and $12 for special event tickets.

The 17,500-capacity amphitheatre, opened in 1922, has welcomed acts such as Nat “King” Cole, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Carrie Underwood and The Doors.

Despite these increases, more than 40 per cent of all tickets for events at the Hollywood Bowl will still cost $37 or less.

In addition, $1 tickets for the 380 top benches will still be offered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, which operates the iconic amphitheatre, during classical and jazz performances on Tuesday through Thursday nights.

With the new increases, prices will range up to $209 for the best seats on a Saturday night to as much as $362 for pool circle and garden box seats at special events.
