AMC’s cinema subscription service has reportedly outpaced its internal expectations hitting more than 380,000 members.
AMC A-List costs $19.95 a month, and includes many features that its competitor MoviePass does not, such as being able to buy a ticket in advance; premium tickets (IMAX, 3D); being able to see the same movie more than once; and concession perks like free refills on popcorn.
AMC reportedly said the uptake in membership was higher than expected, after predicting its service would hit 500,000 subscribers in its first year and one million by June 2020.
AMC said A-List has added 120,000 members during the last six weeks.
While MoviePass remains the cheaper option, its financial woes and the changes to its service has seen the firm struggle to retain subscribers.
For $9.95 per month, MoviePass has now restricted its users to only three films per month, with only six to seven movies to choose from each day.
