English electronic band Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit tour has raked in more than $202m in ticket sales over the course of a 15-month period.
The tour, which ended in late July in Germany, welcomed 2.5 million fans to its headlining dates in stadiums, arenas and outdoor venues worldwide – as well as a half-million more at the festivals.
Global Spirit consisted of 130 shows, making it the longest-running tour in Depeche Mode’s decades-long history. Its previous record was 124 performances during the 2005-06 Touring the Angel tour.
The tour covered more than 30 countries on three continents, beginning with a sold-out show that drew 36,400 fans to the Friends Arena near Stockholm on May 5, 2017.
Depeche Mode saw a huge crowd of 70,002 at its Leipzig performance, which racked up $5.2m in revenue. However, it was not the top-grossing single show last summer.
The sellout at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium saw the band earn $5.6m from 68,157 total ticket sales.
The Global Spirit tour’s finale was set at Waldbühne, Berlin’s 82-year-old outdoor amphitheatre. From concerts on July 23 and 25, the band earned $3.8m from 43,783 sold seats, bringing the overall ticket count in that one German market to 139,898.
