Ashanti gig cancelled after 24 tickets sold

US noughties throwback Ashanti has been forced to cancel her upcoming concert at Stony Brook University after only shifting 24 tickets.

The former Murda Ink artist’s “Back to Brook” concert, which was to be held later this month, faced “devastatingly low” ticket sales, with the university announcing it would no longer go ahead.

“As an organisation, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion,” the statement read. “However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects. With only a week before the concert, only 24 tickets were sold to students.”

US performer Teyana Taylor was originally set to headline the event, but she reportedly pulled out two weeks prior. This gave the university very little time to promote the event with Ashanti as the headliner.

Rapper 50 Cent has since slated Ashanti for the lack of ticket sales, stating she should do basement parties instead.

“Ashanti show canceled after only 24 tickets sold. wait a minute, I thought I told everybody not to **** with this fool. I want the names and social’s of everybody who bought a ticket now. LOL GET THE STRAP,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram.
