Gillingham offering free tickets after ’embarrassing’ loss

The chairman of English League One football club Gillingham FC has announced all 254 fans who travelled to the team’s loss against Plymouth Argyle will be offered free tickets to an upcoming home game.

Plymouth had only won a single game all season prior to Tuesday’s match, but banged in three goals against their rivals at the bottom of the table.

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally told the club website: “Everyone at the club was shocked and embarrassed by the performance and no-one should have to pay to watch that.

“As a token of our appreciation, we are offering two free adult tickets to all 254 people that made the journey on Tuesday evening, which can be used for any of the next five league fixtures at Priestfield.”

The free tickets can be used for any of the next five upcoming home games.
