Ticketpro partners up with Super Rugby franchise

South African Super Rugby franchise the Lions has signed up Ticketpro as its new ticketing partner.

The length of the deal was not disclosed, but it will cover all of the Lions’ home games at the 62,500-capacity Emirates Airline Park stadium in Johannesburg.

The agreement will take effect for the launch of the 2019 Lions Membership packages, to go on sale on Black Friday.

Ticketpro is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Blue Label Telecoms. Lions supporters will have the option of purchasing tickets online as well as from certain retail outlets throughout the country.

“We have been involved in rugby for many years from an event, access control and ticketing perspective and partnering with EPS gives us the opportunity to implement our technology and add new and exciting services to create a unique experience,” said Ticketpro managing director Brandon Duffield.

“The Ticketpro system issues both physical and digital tickets. We have a distribution network of more than 1,500 retail outlets that are enabled to sell tickets for Lions fans, across many different regional and national brands such as selected Edcon stores, all WI CONNECT stores, Choppies, selected SPAR stores, selected petrol stations (Engen, Sasol) and independent merchants. This allows ultimate convenience for consumers to buy tickets at any time of day within their daily routines.”
