Done Events adds jazz festival to portfolio

Dubai-based promoter Done Events has struck a deal with Chillout Productions to complete the takeover of Dubai Jazz Festival.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but Done Events will organise and operate the festival beginning with the 2019 edition, which will take place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre from February 20-22.

The festival, which is currently sponsored by Emirates Airline, has taken place annually since 2003. More than 500,000 customers have attended the event over the past 15 years.

The festival itself has evolved from a traditional line-up of jazz acts to incorporate more mainstream names, such as Sting, David Gray and John Legend.

“The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival further enhances Done Events presence as the region’s largest event organiser and grows our portfolio joining our other home-grown properties such as RedFestDXB, Blended and TagFest music festivals as well as the region’s largest comedy series, DXBLaughs,” said Mohammed Sharaf, chief executive officer of Arab Media Group, the parent company of Done Events.

The line-up of stars for the 2019 Dubai Jazz Festival will be confirmed this week.
