Taylor Swift breaks US record for highest-grossing tour

Taylor Swift’s stadium tour has smashed the record for the highest-grossing US tour, with more than two million tickets sold domestically.

The popstar’s Reputation tour earned $266.1m domestically, the highest on record since Billboard Boxscore began tracking touring data in 1990.

Swift has overtaken British rock legends The Rolling Stones, who grossed $245m from their A Bigger Bang tour in 2005-07. The US pop princess stole the Stones’ record, which took them 70 shows to hit, in just 38 dates.

Swift’s 2009-10 Fearless tour was selling 12,964 tickets on average each night, with her 2018 success seeing a whopping 54,432-ticket average.

The US leg of Swift’s latest tour ran from May 8 through October 6, with the biggest performances on the three consecutive nights from July 20-22 at MetLife Stadium grossing $22m and selling 165,654 tickets.

The Reputation Stadium tour was promoted by AEG Presents and Messina Touring Group.
