Sporting Kansas City has moved to a mobile-only ticketing system for its Major League Soccer home games in 2019 at Children’s Mercy Park.
In partnership with SeatGeek, the official ticketing partner of Sporting KC, fans will only be able to use their smartphones to scan into matches.
Paperless ticket has already been adopted by more than 80 per cent of Sporting KC season ticket members last season.
The club says the move will enhance ticket security, support its green initiative Sporting Sustainability and streamline the purchasing and resale of tickets.
Fans will need to create a SeatGeek account wither online or on its app, and are encouraged to link the account with the Sporting KC app for more offers and future rewards.
In August, Sporting KC began selling MLS tickets through the social media platform Snapchat. SeatGeek claimed to be the first firm to begin offering sports tickets directly through the social media-messaging app.
