Sales for Elton John’s tour in New Zealand and Australia have skyrocketed, with nine shows selling out in the first hour.
The pop legend’s Farewell Yellow Brick Roads tour’s popularity in the region has led Chugg Entertainment and AEG Presents to add nine more gigs, including a fifth Sydney date, a third Brisbane show and a second in Auckland.
More than 350,000 tickets have now been sold for a total of 26 Australian and five New Zealand dates.
Pollstar reports that this tour could mark Chugg’s biggest ever.
Earlier this month, Elton John fans were left frustrated after the ticketing site left many people waiting in online queues, only to find they had been moved to the back of the line.
However, promoter Michael ‘Chuggi’ Chugg said, despite earlier reports, that there was no ticketing system malfunctions or bugs, but rather a huge influx of fans scrambling for tickets.
