Tokyo 2020 to feature robot guides

Robots will help to show spectators to their seats at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the local organising committee has announced.

With a number of technological innovations in the pipeline for the multi-sport event, Tokyo 2020 – with the support of a number of organisations, including top-tier Olympic commercial partners Panasonic and Toyota – has unveiled its ‘Robot Project’.

The project will feature robots being stationed at venues, as well as the athlete village, to provide participants and spectators with a range of information. The robots will also provide assistance to spectators in wheelchairs at Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium, by carrying food, drink and other items.
