New Sydney stadium signs up Ticketek

Bankwest Stadium, the soon-to-open home of the National Rugby League’s Parramatta Eels and the A-League’s Western Sydney Wanderers football club, has signed up Ticketek Australia as its ticketing partner.

Ticketek, which is part of ticketing, live entertainment and data analytics group TEG, will serve as the stadium’s ticketing partner for all events, starting with the venue’s Community Open Day on April 14.

More than 20,000 complimentary tickets have already been reserved for the event, which represents the first opportunity for fans to get a look inside the new venue.

The opening sporting event at Bankwest Stadium will be the NRL Premiership Round Six rugby league clash between the Eels and Wests Tigers on April 22.

Bankwest Stadium joins ANZ Stadium, MCG, SCG, Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval and AAMI Park as major venues covered by Ticketek.com.au.

“Bankwest Stadium represents a step change in the live entertainment experience in Australia,” TEG CEO Geoff Jones said. “The breathtaking design, the sightlines and the proximity of seats to the action will produce atmospherics that will set new benchmarks.”

Managed under the authority of New South Wales government agency Venues NSW and operated by VenuesLive, Bankwest Stadium has been built on the site of the old Parramatta Stadium that was demolished in 2017.

Major work started on the 30,000-seat stadium in September 2017 and the project has a budget of Aus$360m (£196m/€227m/$255m).

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry added: “Bankwest Stadium will set a new standard in the event experience in Sydney and we are thrilled to have Ticketek on board to help us deliver events at the Stadium.

“We value the fact that Ticketek has its own local technology team to develop and deliver world-class customer experiences to Australian fans. We are particularly excited about Ticketek’s innovation in mobile ticketing and technology and the many benefits this will provide to fans and hirers at Bankwest Stadium.”
