HID Global has rolled out a new fingerprint reader that merges credentials with its multispectral imaging technology.

The firm, which was the official ticket producer for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, claims that the iCLASS SE RB25F biometric reader with liveness detection performs secure fingerprint matching in less than a second.

HID explained in a release that its “multispectral imaging technology illuminates the skin at different depths to collect information from inside the finger to augment available surface data so that all types of fingerprints can be read quickly in challenging environmental conditions.”

The reader also includes built-in optical tamper protection, and it supports the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), as well as HID’s Seos technology for multi-layered authentication between the reader and credentials.
