Grab to add tickets features with BookMyShow

Singapore-based multi-service platform Grab has expanded its ecosystem by adding Booking.com, BookMyShow and Agoda.

Grab launched in 2012 as a ride-hailing service, but has developed into an expansive platform offering food delivery, ticketing, hotel booking, on-demand video streaming, integrated public transport planning service, and more.

The firm is launching its new ‘Tickets’ service with BookMyShow in June, giving customers access to cinema tickets. In the future, Grab said it hopes to expand this service to include ticketing to other events and entertainment.

The app’s statement also claimed that ticket revenue in Singapore represents a $150m (£116m/€134m) market, with the city state boasting one of the highest per-capita cinema attendance rates in the world, at 4.2 visits a year.

Jerald Singh, group head of product and design at the multi-service company, said: “We are excited to offer these new services to our customers, giving them better access to the services that matter the most to them. A day with Grab can now be seamless from planning your commute to work, to ordering your next meal, and getting ready for your next movie date or holiday trip.”
