New kabaddi league signs BookMyShow ticketing deal

The new Indo International Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL) has named BookMyShow as its official ticketing partner for its inaugural season.

The first edition of the IPKL will see eight teams battle it out across India in Pune, Mysore and Bengaluru.

Kabaddi, popular in the Indian subcontinent, is a contact sport played between two teams of seven players. The objective of the game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a “raider”, to run into the opposing team’s half of a court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath.

The new league will host a total of 44 matches that will be played between eight teams: Bangalore Rhinos, Chennai Challengers, Diler Delhi, Telugu Bulls, Pune Pride, Haryana Heroes, Mumbai CheRaje and Pondicherry Predators.

Tiered prize money is up for grabs for the top three teams, with the winner walking away with Rs 1.25 crore ($180,300/£138,300/€161,200).
