InTix joins Square to create box-office POS system

Australian ticketing and technology company InTix has teamed up with mobile payment firm Square to create a fully-integrated box office Point of Sale (PoS) system for event organisers.

InTix Box Office claims to be the first ticketing provider in Australia to develop an app that integrates directly with Square.

The technology was trialled during the 2019 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in March, an event which attracted over 103,000 visitors.

Event director Marcus Gale from IMG said: “InTix Box Office simplified our payment procedures at the gate for the 2019 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. The Square integration made it easy for us to accept payment however our customers preferred to pay for the ticket.

“One of the standout features of InTix Box Office was the seamless integration with our online ticket sales, making our reporting easier and more accurate than ever before. In partnership with Square, InTix offers everything we need in a ticketing and payment processing system for our event.”

The solution gives organisers control of door sales with next-day settlements for card payments and better reporting, integrated seamlessly with existing inventory. All transactions are recorded in one place, including cash, card and online sales.

InTix Box Office can also integrate with other hardware including cash drawers and receipt printers, allowing organisers to print bar-coded tickets at the box office, to be scanned upon entry to their event.

Square, which is a global payments provider, is popular with Australian small businesses because of the unique payments hardware it provides with options for contactless payments, chip card payments as well as Apple Pay and Android Pay, combined with fast deposits, and powerful analytics and reporting tools.

InTix co-founder Dan Chin said, “We were hearing time and time again from event organisers that they didn’t want to use a ticket system for door sales, as they needed that money right away. Now they can, with minimum reconciling and less staff for both card and cash payments, and next day settlements from Square.”
