Eventbrite has launched Ticketing on Facebook, allowing event organisers in the United States to sell tickets within the social media platform via its Events page.
Facebook users can now set up an event and sell or issue tickets without leaving the platform.
In order to engage the ticketing feature, administrators can choose to ‘Create Tickets’ in the initial set-up. Eventbrite said, according to USA Today, that a fee on a $20 ticket sold would be $1.72.
Pat Poels, senior vice-president of platform at Eventbrite, said: “Eventbrite and Facebook both share a passion to inspire connection and help bring people together.
“700 million people use Facebook Events each month and partnering on this initiative is our effort to better serve the people responsible for bringing those events and gatherings to life including small businesses and entrepreneurs whose core business is not throwing events.”
Sue Young, director of product management at Facebook, said: “For the past several years, Facebook and Eventbrite have been partnering closely to help bring people together with the communities and live experiences that they love. Our partnership has enabled people to seamlessly and securely purchase tickets to events on Facebook.
“With this product, we are making it easier for event organisers to create and start selling tickets directly on Facebook by helping them complete the process without ever leaving the app.”
