Atom Tickets links up with Flikflix streaming app on Apple TV

Movie fans in the US can now buy cinema tickets from their Apple TV after Atom Tickets teamed up with entertainment streaming app Flikflix.

With the Atom Tickets integration, movie fans can use the Flikflix app to browse their favourite actors to discover movies playing in nearby theatres and buy tickets. Atom Tickets will also provide movie details, such as trailers and synopses, for the in-theatre section of the Flikflix app.

“Having an in-theatre movie leap off the TV screen to an Apple device with one tap from Flikflix for Apple TV is like magic with a bit of sci-fi mixed in, we believe it is incredibly convenient for people who love going to movies,” said Bill Denk, Flikflix chief executive and founder.

“We’re thankful to have a partner as innovative and forward thinking as Atom Tickets. We think moviegoers are going to really like it.”

The Flikflix app streams shows and movies from popular services such as HBO, Netflix, Hulu and Prime Video. Flikflix is marketed as a Tinder-style service where consumers can input their favourite movies and actors and then be directed towards content they may enjoy.

“We are always looking at new ways to deliver the Atom Tickets experience to consumers wherever they are – from smartphones to smart TVs – our platform scales to fit partners of all sizes,” said Chris Brucia, head of product at Atom Tickets. “We’re thrilled to work with Flikflix to create movie discovery experiences across Apple devices.”

Backed by Lionsgate, Disney, Twentieth Century Fox Film and Fidelity Management & Research Company, Atom Tickets is enabled on more than 26,000 screens across the US including AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas, and Showcase Cinemas. Its advisory board includes Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams and Dwayne Johnson.

Last week it added around 4,500 new screens through a deal with Cinemark.
