Munich court bans Viagogo from advertising ‘guarantee’ claims

A court in Munich has told Viagogo it can no longer advertise tickets sold on its site as “valid”.

A judge in the German city’s district court (Landgericht) ruled in favour of the Bavarian Consumer Association (Verbraucherzentrale Bayern) as it sought to ban Viagogo from saying its customers are guaranteed entry to an event from tickets bought on its site.

The German daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports that the ruling also forces the company to make it clear that it is not a primary ticket seller and that it must provide buyers with more transparency by forcing sellers to give their name and address.

Reports suggest Viagogo will appeal the Munich district court decision.

The ticketing firm has been contacted for comment.
