Lawson lands Premier12 partnership

Japanese convenience store chain Lawson has been named as the exclusive ticketing partner for the first phase of ticket sales for the World Baseball Softball Confederation’s (WBSC) 2019 Premier12 Super Round and Finals.

The Super Round and Finals will be hosted by Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and will take place at Chiba’s ZOZO Marine Stadium and the Tokyo Dome from November 11-17.

Individual game tickets will start at JPY2,300 (£17/€19/$21) for reserved outfield seating and will go up to JPY24,000 for seats behind the home plate.

The first phase of sales is set to run from August 1-31 via Lawson’s online ticketing platform.

The first 10,000 ticket-buyers will receive an official Premier12 game ball, while the first 3,000 fans to snap up tickets for the games at the ZOZO Marine Stadium will receive a Premier12-branded blanket.

“We must further promote baseball by showing the fun, dynamic and powerful play through the WBSC Premier12, where the 12 most powerful countries will compete,” NPB commissioner Atsushi Saito said. “It’s a great honour that here in Japan the world champion will be crowned.”

The event will feature the world’s top 12 ranking men’s national teams and will serve as a qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Baseball and softball will return to the Olympic programme next year after a 12-year absence.
