David Walley expands event business portfolio

Event industry mogul David Walley (left) has further expanded his business portfolio after acquiring UK live event equipment supplier Star Events.

The firm is the UK’s leading supplier of stages, support structures, rigging and design services. It has worked with events such as British Summer Time Hyde Park, Download Festival, Adele, Spice Girls, Royal Windsor Horse Show and the visit of Pope Benedict XVI.

Walley said: “Star is one of the great names of the UK event industry. It has an inspiring legacy and is both trusted and innovative. We are looking forward to integrating it into the business and adding value to all of our clients.”

The entrepreneur has helped to develop and grow several businesses in the industry, including Arena Group and 360 Creative Events Services.

Walley, who led the UK’s Freeman company and served as managing director of De Boer, a global provider of fully integrated temporary and semi-permanent space solutions, has also acquired Mobile Promotions, BluePeg and Beautiful Minds over the last 12 months.

Star Events’ special project director, Roger Barrett, added: “I’ve known and worked alongside David on some major projects for more than 20 years. The whole Star team is excited about this move, which will significantly increase the services we can offer to our clients.”
