2019 SEA Games seeks ticketing partner

The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (Phisgoc) is looking to secure a ticketing partner after announcing all venues will charge gate tickets for the 2019 edition of the multi-sport event.

Phisgoc chief operating officer Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara said the organisers are now seeking a ticketing partner for the November 30 to December 11 event.

Suzara said they are in talks with SM tickets and could sign a deal in the next couple of weeks.

He added that there will be general pricing, as well as varied pricing for semi-finals and finals.

Suzara said: “Of course, for some sports that are not so popular we are trying to fix a minimal rate, [in] all sports, tickets will be charged.

“We want the public to know that these sports are important. Even for a $1 ticket is enough for them to appreciate what the sport in the SEA Games is.

“Although the income of tickets will not be so big, it adds also to the revenue of the SEA Games.”

Suzara added that the seating capacity of venues will be taken into consideration when deciding on rates.

The Philippines’ fourth time hosting the SEA Games will feature a record 56 sports and 530 events. Basketball will be played at the 15,000-capacity Mall Of Asia Arena while volleyball will be held at the 10,000-seat Philsports Arena in Pasig. Swimming, diving, athletics, badminton, boxing, and gymnastics are some of the other sports taking place at 2019 SEA Games.
