TicketWorld reshuffle as Sewell steps down

TicketWorld has announced that chief executive Bob Sewell is to retire this month, while John Maclang has been unveiled as the new general manager of the Philippines-facing ticketing provider.

Sewell, who founded TicketWorld in 1995, is stepping down less than a year after the provider was acquired by TEG. He will be retained in a consulting role, according to Brendon Bainbridge, managing director of TEG Asia.

Maclang, a lawyer by profession, has led technology and e-commerce platforms as a country manager in the Philippines, most recently for Hotel Link.

“I want to congratulate Bob on the great work he’s done to make the business what it is today and thank him for his generous contribution in integrating the company into TEG,” Geoff Jones, TEG’s chief executive, said.

“John brings a strong commercial and management background in technology, leisure and the law. We welcome and look forward to working with him to deliver on our commitment to grow rapidly in Asia.”

Sewell added: “I wish John and TicketWorld all the best as the company moves into its next phase of development and growth. The Philippine entertainment market is maturing and is displaying all the signs that will ensure its position of strength in the Asian market.”

TicketWorld has provided ticketing services for a number of major international concert tours by the likes of Guns N’ Roses and Katy Perry, as well as theatre productions, such as The Lion King, Mamma Mia, Les Misérables and Wicked.

Maclang said: “TicketWorld is a fantastic business and I thank Bob for his work over the years in developing the entertainment business in Manila. I look forward to working with the TicketWorld team and TEG to further develop Manila as a world class entertainment market.”

TicketWorld also provides ticketing services to many of the Philippines’ most popular entertainment venues, including Solaire Resort and Casino, Resorts World Manila, BGC Arts Center and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

TEG operates various subsidiaries, including Ticketek, TEG Live, TEG Dainty, TEG Analytics, TEG Insights, TEG Digital, Softix, Qudos Bank Arena, Eventopia, Life Like Touring, The Entertainment Store, Brickman Exhibitions and TEG Asia.
