Dutch consumer group Consumentenbond has been successful in its campaign to force Ticketmaster Netherlands to reimburse its service charges if an event is cancelled.
The fees can cost between €2 (£1.83/$2.22) and €10 per ticket, which previously would not be returned to the customer if the event no longer goes ahead, although the customer is refunded the price of the ticket.
Earlier this month, the Consumers’ Association had urged the ticket seller to adjust its policy stating “there were no legal grounds for not reimbursing the service costs.”
Ticketmaster is the first party in the Netherlands to adjust its policy. The Consumers’ Association has now called on other ticket providers, who have not yet reimbursed the service costs, to “follow the good example of Ticketmaster.”
