Bandsintown for Artists unveils geo-targeted messaging to fans

Concert discovery service Bandsintown has rebranded its artist portal with a free geo-targeted messaging to fans, among other changes.

The updates have expanded the direct-to-fan messaging tool that features new posting capabilities, including geo-targeted messaging, which allows artists to target their fans by specific city or region.

Artists can now also schedule posts ahead of time on Bandsintown and sync those posts with Facebook and Twitter.

The data collected will be shared for free with artists on the analytics platform.

The company lists itself as a “platform where artists and fans connect”. The site allows users to receive notifications about tours and bands playing in the user’s area and has tools for artists to manage tour dates.

“Bandsintown is aggressively expanding its free offering to artists,” said Fabrice Sergent, Bandsintown managing partner. “We continue to contribute value to artists and help them better engage with their super fans, grow their careers and stand out in an ever-crowded world.”

Bandsintown for Artists is available free to the more than 510,000 registered artists to upload tour dates and promote to the platform’s 50 million registered users and via the more than 130 million monthly fan interactions on Billboard, Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Amazon Alexa.

The platform is already used by top artists such as Ariana Grande, David Guetta, Death Cab for Cutie, Janet Jackson, and Jay-Z, among many others.
