The O2 Arena hits ticketing milestone

The O2 Arena has hit the milestone of 25 million tickets sold since the 20,000-capacity venue first opened in 2007.

The venue has hosted over 2,000 individual performances in the last 12 years and now averages over 200 events a year which cover music, sport, comedy, family entertainment and e-Sports.

The milestone comes after a run of sell out shows from Ariana Grande, Travis Scott and Muse over the summer.

Emma Bownes, vice-president of venue programming, The O2 said: “To reach the 25 million ticket milestone is a huge achievement and we’re so grateful to have hosted so many artists for the first time this year.

“London has the best fans in the world, and we’d like to thank promoters, agents, managers and our partners for continuing to work with us to help bring the very best performers from the worlds of music, comedy, sport and entertainment to The O2.”

This year has also seen a rise in first time performances from stars including, Daddy Yankee, George Ezra, and Post Malone, while The Chemical Brothers, The Lumineers and The World of Hans Zimmer, are set to perform before the end of the year.

In September, the venue held its first ever science show with Professor Brian Cox and will welcome its youngest headline artist, Jojo Siwa, in November.

Since opening, The O2 has continued to expand adding even more entertainment to host the nine million fans that visit each year.

Take That broke their own record for the most shows played at The O2 during their 2019 tour, while The Vamps became the first performers to play five years in a row at the London venue in May 2019.

Metallica smashed the attendance record of 22,211 fans during its WorldWired Tour in October 2017.
