PouchNation, an offline-to-online solutions firm for events and venues in Asia, has teamed up with ticketing company ThaiTicketMajor to introduce cashless payment solutions to event promoters in Thailand.
PouchNation, which has offices in Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, will be assisting the Thailand-based firm with its technology platform via the use of NFC wrist bracelets.
Through the partnership, attendees will be able to deposit funds into these bracelets prior to the event and then use them to make purchases ranging from merchandise to food and beverages.
Koen Van Geene, PouchNation’s director for Thailand, said: “PouchNation system is extremely lean, all transaction can be done using handheld devices, and works fully offline, perfect for crowded and remote areas of Thailand where the connectivity is still lagging behind.”
The move is a push towards a cashless society in the event space in line with the government’s Thailand 4.0 initiative, which is a 20-year strategy to accelerate the country’s development to a more advanced level. It is designed to promote and support innovation, creativity, research and development, higher technologies and green technologies.
Komkrit Sirirat, deputy managing director at ThaiTicketMajor, added: “We are extremely excited to partner and integrate with PouchNation as ThaiTicketMajor is taking very seriously innovation and the objectives to transition towards a fully cashless society in the upcoming years.
“Fraud reduction, increased speed of transactions and data collection are all key objectives that delineate our future vision and will help to strengthen the ticketing solution provided by ThaiticketMajor as leading ticketing service provider in Thailand.”
