Norway’s top football leagues appoint TicketCo

European event payment and ticketing company TicketCo has signed a five-year deal with Norsk Toppfotball to supply the top two Norwegian football leagues.

Under the agreement, TicketCo will provide ticketing and payment solutions to Norway’s top two tiers of football, which the company has estimated to be valued at £90m.

The firm, which is headquartered in Norway, already handles ticketing for half the top tier clubs in Norway and several in the lower league, including Molde and SK Brann.

Leif Øverland, chief executive of Norsk Toppfotball, said: “With annual ticket handing of close to two million tickets at our club per year we required a forward thinking and customer friendly ticketing function. It was important we established a common system to offer the best service to fans. We’re looking forward to this collaboration.”

TicketCo’s technology aims to make event payments easier for organisers and consumers. It is compatible with Android and iOS devices and enables organisers to promote offers on food, drink and merchandise in advance of events. The TicketCo system sends QR codes to event goers’ smartphones, which are then scanned at entry points to gain access.

Carl-Erik Michalsen Moberg, who founded TicketCo with Kåre Bottolfsen in 2013, said: “This is a significant milestone for TicketCo and football. Through our collaboration with Norwegian Toppfotball we will add tremendous value to the clubs at the league level. It means clubs can delve deeper into data, have stronger buying power and collaborate more to provide fans we a joined-up service.

“This solution is relevant for other leagues both inside and outside Europe and we look forward to taking it to other leagues. Norway is ahead of development, which makes us the perfect shopping window for the rest of the world.”

In the UK, TicketCo has partnered with football clubs including Kilmarnock, Wycombe Wanderers, Macclesfield Town, Solihull Moors, Eastleigh and Oxford City.
