SeatGeek signs up as Lord’s ticketing partner

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has appointed SeatGeek as the official ticketing partner of Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The multi-year partnership marks the ticketing firm’s first foray into the cricket market, with its portfolio already including numerous football clubs, including 40% of the Premier League and 30% of the EFL Championship in the UK.

“SeatGeek’s technology has a proven track record of supporting some of the most prestigious teams and venues in the world, and we are pleased to join a very impressive SeatGeek client list,” said Jeff Woollen, the MCC’s chief information officer. “We are focused on providing our visitors with a world-class fan experience, and the ticket purchase engagement is the crucial first step in that process.”

SeatGeek sport managing director Peter Joyce, added: “There is no better client for us to make our debut in cricket and we look forward to delivering an outstanding ticketing experience for MCC’s members, supporters and cricket fans attending matches and events at the Home of Cricket.”

Lord’s hosted its fifth ICC Cricket World Cup Final this year, along with four group fixtures in the tournament. In 2017, the 30,000-capacity venue staged its second ICC Women’s World Cup Final, which was played in front of a sell-out crowd.

James McClure, SeatGeek’s EVP global business and general manager of international, added: “As we continue to invest in our European growth, it is exciting to see SeatGeek break into a new sport, especially by partnering with the most famous cricket venue in the world, Lord’s. Despite its rich history, Lord’s is still an innovative venue at heart, and we are excited to work together for the benefit of attendees.”
