FIFA’s Club World Cup resale platform to debut this week

FIFA is to this week launch a resale platform for tickets for next month’s Club World Cup.

Football’s governing body said the service will be available via FIFA.com/tickets from Thursday, with ticket holders given the opportunity to offer tickets for possible resale.

The FIFA Club World Cup is to take place in Qatar between December 11-22, and will feature European champions Liverpool and South America’s Flamengo. Liverpool and Flamego will join the competition at the semi-final stage from December 17.

An additional batch of tickets for the eight-game tournament will go on sale from this Thursday. Some tickets for the competition are already available on FIFA.com/tickets. FIFA added that the ticketing portal will be closed for a period of time ahead of the new tickets becoming available.

Tickets are priced in three categories, starting at QAR 25 (£5.50/€6.15/$6.87) for Category 3 tickets up to QAR 400 for a Category 1 ticket for the third-place play off and final.

Fans purchasing a single ticket for double-header matchdays will be able to attend both games at the stadium.

By winning their continental championships over the weekend, Brazil’s Flamengo and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal qualified to join Espérance Sportive de Tunis, Monterrey, Hienghène Sport, Liverpool FC and hosts Al-Sadd SC in the tournament.

Figures released recently by FIFA show that UK-based fans snapped up 14 per cent of the allocated FIFA Club World Cup Visa Presale tickets, while local Qatari fans accounted for 60 per cent of the total.
