Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre unveils accessibility initiative

Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre has launched a £1 ticket scheme in a move designed to improve accessibility at the venue.

The offer is available to those under-25, as well as people receiving job seeker’s allowance, employment support allowance, universal credit or carer’s allowance.

The cheap seats will be up for grabs during every in-house production and co-production, as well as the majority of visiting shows. The announcement follows a year-long pilot of the scheme at the 214-capacity venue.

The announcement was revealed alongside Traverse Theatre’s 2020 season programme, which includes Kieran Hurley’s Mouthpiece, which the theatre produced for the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The programme also includes Donny’s Brain by Rona Munro, which runs in April, and an extended lunchtime season of A Play, a Pie and a Pint, with eight plays running between March 31 and May 23.
