Slayer slams Viagogo after fake listing

Heavy metal band Slayer has warned fans that it is not reforming despite Viagogo displaying tickets for a concert in June.

Tickets for a Slayer reunion event at Swedish Rocks in the summer were advertised on the resale site last week. However, the band later tweeted about the event in Sölvesborg saying the information was “inaccurate” and warned fans against buying the fake tickets.

The inaccuracy may be due to an administration oversight as it appears the Viagogo listing included the 2019 line-up, which did feature Slayer.

The band tweeted: “Warning to Slayer Fans! There are tickets being offered on Viagogo for a Slayer performance at Sweden Rocks June 2020. Buyer beware this is a resale site with inaccurate information. Slayer will not [be] performing.”

A Viagogo spokesperson told TheTicketingBusiness: “No tickets were ever actually listed for Slayer on our site, because as has been pointed out, they never existed or were on sale. This is because we accidentally listed Slayer as playing at the event, so our website automatically generated an event page. This mistake has now been corrected.”

Slayer appeared at Sweden Rocks last year but concluded their farewell tour in December 2019.

The 2020 event will be headlined by Guns N Roses, with one-day tickets going on sale this week.

Referring to the Viagogo listing, Sweden Rocks said in a statement: “It has come to our knowledge that the resale site Viagogo – despite exhortation from us – has LAST year’s Sweden-Rock line-up on their site, next to this year’s date. This is unfortunate, and we hope that no one has been cheated into believing these artists will play our festival again this year.

“We also want to take this opportunity to emphasise that we do NOT have any cooperation with this company (or other resale companies), and – as always – buy your Sweden-Rock tickets directly from Ticketmaster.”
