Theatre ticketing platform TodayTix has acquired rival firm Encore to “establish a global ticketing platform” in London and New York.

Under the agreement, both companies would fall under the TodayTix brand, with the firm stating that the move will bring thousands of productions and venues across three continents into one “integrated ticketing company.”

TodayTix, which boasts 1,400 partners, is available in 15 markets globally and claims to have sold more than £1bn in tickets via its distribution network.

TodayTix co-founder and chief executive Brian Fenty said, according to The Stage: “The acquisition of Encore will form an unprecedented ecosystem in which producers and audiences can connect, increasing their insight and heightening the ticket-buying experience, furthering our brand promise of bringing the highest quality of serve to theatre ticketing.”

London-based Encore has over 160 partners in theatres and attractions and has been working closely with venues, producers and cultural institutions to create exclusive ticket deals, access and unique experiences in the West End and other productions.

Encore chief executive Joe Steele said the deal, which has been completed for an undisclosed sum, meant the companies were “better placed to deliver valuable audiences for our theatre attractions and live entertainment partners”.
