Streaming platform Deezer launches concert series

Deezer has become the latest streaming platform to launch a live concert series in different cities around the world based around its top playlists.

The French company has picked artists to perform at small invite-only shows called ‘LIVE,’ with each event focusing on a specific genre.

Each event will be recorded and will be made available to fans as a ‘Deezer Session,’ exclusively on the streaming platform.

The first event is Rocket LIVE, which is scheduled for today (Wednesday) in Paris, with Circa Waves and Twin Atlantic booked to “perform new music to fans and competition winners”.

The Rocket brand features rock bands like Bring Me The Horizon and Green Day, through to emerging talent like Fontaines D.C. and Yonaka.

Nigel Harding, Deezer’s vice-president of artist marketing, said, according to Music Business Worldwide: “Our editors make playlists to perfectly suit fans’ tastes and moods. For the first time, we’re bringing these hand-picked selections to life in a really cool party atmosphere.

“Fans can get closer to the artists they love, from the playlists they love, all in a live setting.”

Last summer, Apple hosted a concert series called Up Next Live featuring past and present Apple Music ‘Up Next’ artists. Spotify also launched its first live music event in London in November 2017 – Who We Be, linked to the playlist of the same name.
